Around the Corner - 28a aix

Just around the corner from where we lived in Aix en Provence for two years.
Maybe we can stay sometime, just 3 suites and 1 bedroom, it looks perfect.

Certainly a change in the very traditional design style for the creators of Villa Gallici, much lighter and current. I have alternated pictures from Villa Gallici ( I would not sniff at staying there either!) and 28a Aix. Villa Gallici is still lovely and classic southern french design but, the freshness of the new address is undeniable.
The address/name is perfect especially in my books! Probably one of the best addresses to explore wonderful Aix from.

Notes from Marseille-Provence make 28a Aix even more appealing to me!
The downsides: This may either be a minus or a massive bonus in your eyes, but 28 is anhôtel particulier rather than a Hotel with a capital 'H'.

Accordingly, at the end of the afternoon the staff discreetly melt away: you'll be given the door entry code and an "emergency phone number" but are left to relax as though the house were your own (we're assured that to date no-one has abused this privilege). As with numerous other hotels in old houses in central Aix, there's no lift (elevator).

The full Story from their site.

The 28 at Aix en Provence
"Our Story ".

Summer 92, Gil Dez, Charles Montemarco and Daniel Jouve opened at Aix en Provence
the « Villa Gallici » A luxurious refined house, 4Star Relais Chateaux which Andrew
Travel consider as one of the world's  best, rewarded by the Welcome Harper Trophy
des Relais & Chateaux and Best Hotel de France « Gold list » of the Conde Nast
Traveller. Up until 2001 it was a big success, internationally acknowledged and the
creation of a new style of luxury and refinement which is maintained in Europe and
the United States as a reference of quality.
Today in the Mazarin one of the most elegant areas of Aix, close to Cours Mirabeau,
the Place des Quatre Dauphins and the Granet museum, it's in their XVII century
private mansion at N°28 de la Rue du 4 Septembre that the smart trio from Aix
are back joined by Herve Simon and Stephane Raynal in a refurbished homely,
warm and magical hotel.
Their long time wish to create a dream house finally took shape at the
« 28 à Aix » With wit, intelligence and lightness one can find decorating and
rare objects, scents, exclusive accessories imagined or researched so as to live
« out of time and in time ».
Straight from the entrance the art gallery gives onto the reception, shop and
tea house adjoining Gil Dez and Charles Montemarco's decorating work shop.
The whole concept is entirely devoted to culture, beauty and refinement
with that as always authentic touch.
On bright days the lounge opens onto a charmingly peaceful garden with
an unimpeded outlook, reared with the murmuring of the small pond surrounded
by greensward. A haven of peace where you will be welcomed by our host's
good spirits.
There are 4 prestigious suites in luxurious elegance, 4 perfectly comfortable
living spaces where one can enjoy an extensive breakfast menu served,
bathrooms where one will want to linger in total abundance, a unique experience
in this mansion just two steps away from the historical Aix en Provence.
In the towns heart of Water and Art from this summer
our friends look forward to welcoming you in their unique paradise
at the 28 à Aix.
