Kaufmann Widrig Swiss architects have designed this 'infill' home on Lake Geneva. I gather from the information posted it is to echo the feeling of some of the old lakeside boathouses. Long and narrow it does utilize the views however, I am really meditating on the steel cladding.....ummmmmmmmmmm?
Certainly there seems to be a number of architectural styles and zoning solutions on this hillside none
of which seem to compliment or enhance the natural beauty of the land.

Inspired design for Phuket

Continuing on with thoughts of inspiring design I'd love to see on the island of Phuket, here is a gorgeous development in Turkey that might sit well here. In fact it might be slightly more anchored with the lush green of Phuket embracing and contrasting with the buildings. Strong and monumental - what a statement they make.
Many apologies to the architects and photographer; I cannot for the life of me find the link to credit. I'll keep looking.

Giving Back with Some Design Style.....
Here is a clear vision of using nature's bounty to provide us with building materials. Rintala Eggertsson architects of Norway travelled with a group of architecture students from home to the northern Thai/Myanmar border area. Here the group lead by Sami Rintala built a two story library building at the Safe Haven Orphanage in a very short two week period. The group built a pretty little building that quietly sits in the landscape while answering and providing a number of solutions in learning for the 42 Karon children housed at the orphanage.
Utilizing local materials of lava stone from the site, bamboo, concrete bricks and wood the structure was designed to take advantage of natural airflow for ventilation and over hanging eaves and full pole bamboo screens were developed to provide cooling shade.
The main level of the library is equipped with shelving and a computer area. The mezzanine level provides a cozy area for enjoying the books and lounging.

Glowing Tropical Buildings
Somehow buildings can look exceptionally glamourous in the dark night sky here in the tropics. In Phuket we have clear skies much of the year the contrast with the light and dark seems just about perfect!

Behind this Door!
This fabulous new GREEN home has been built high in the hills of Phuket facing Phang Nai Bay.
Named damazAmya the owners hired an architectural firm from Malaysia specializing in green, contemporary design. Design Unit
The understanding of materials, their inherent textures and how they compliment each other in this very subtle palate is extremely sophisticated. There is no 'Mock Wat' permeiating this design just a gorgeous fusion of contemporary architecture with subtle Thai influenced accents, strong originality at it's best!
