An Enchanted Palace for all Queens and Princesses (they were Mums too!)

Kensington Palace is undergoing a huge refurbishment commissioned by the nonprofit Historic Royal Palaces, in the process it has been renamed The Enchanted Palace. Starting outside in the gardens there are whimsical hints of what is to come. The gardens were just starting to come alive when I visited in April but, I imagine they will be wonderfully spectacular by summer time. The interior of the palace has a recently opened exhibit that explores aspects of the lives of previous inhabitants of the palace including seven princesses. There are interactive displays and live performances through some of the most famous state apartments of the palace.

The designers of the installations include William Tempest, Vivienne Westwood, Boudicca, Echo Morgan, and Aminaka Wilmont aided in the creation of the installations within the palace. My favorite the hats were designed by Stephen Jones. Dresses worn by Princess Diana and Princess Margaret are also on display although hard to get excited about.
