A colonial mansion found in the beautiful little spot of Pyin Oo Lwin renamed during British rule as May's Town. The town had become the summer capital of Burma during British rule. Here the colonials escaped the oppressive summer heat of Rangoon/Yangon and Mandalay at an altitude of 3510ft/1070m.
In this pretty area we came across Candacraig, a beautiful old mansion built in 1904 as an elegant guest house for British bachelors coming to Burma, most likely working in the military. This elegant mansion had been used as a guest house run by the government in the past decades.
One hopes it will be restored and saved with sympathy. How elegant it must have been.
