Just imagine....

Imagine having the funds to create a new arts centre and then hire Pritzker laureates as your design team.
Sounds like fantasy, however Irish property develope Paddy McKillen has done just that. I am in awe!

Mr. Mckillen hired Tadao Ando the Godfather of minimalist architecture as the master planner for his project located at  the Chateau Lacoste winery in Aix en Provence. Ando is no stranger to designing fabulous art museum places. They are not just buildings they are places! Other members of this team all hugely successful and well versed in the genre are  Foster, Piano, Ghery and Nouvel , talk about a dream team.

Mr. McKillen purchased Chateau La Coste  and it's 120 hectares of vineyards in 2003. He has retained a wonderful classical mansion  however Mr. Mckillen hired Jean Nouvel to replace the winemaking infrastructure. Stunning semi circular sheds with state of the art vats and equipment can be controlled much like an A380 Airbus. The vineyard is strictly "non-interventionist" when it comes to controlling the yeasts and making the wines Chief winemaker Matthieu Cosse makes all the decisions.

The art centre is due to open next year with a small hotel, open air sculpture garden and restaurant. I'm planning that trip now!
